Windows into the Kasbah was inspired by my journey to Morocco 2007.
One of the three influences/inspirations for this series has been the precision, skill, and artistic vision of Moroccan tile work. It was impressive to see the process from start to finish and what can be achieved with absence of modern day tools.
The second inspiration being the Moroccan desert landscape with its striking contrast of brilliant blue skies among an oasis of green. It was difficult to capture fully on such a small scale, but it will at least give you glimpse of Morocco’s beauty.
The final influence being my fascination with the tannery dye baths. It was amazing to peer down on these large cement tubs of dye with men standing in them thigh high with leather hide in hand.
The experience was a transformative adventure which is what I appreciate most about travel.
