“Low Country Inspired” was created in 2020 as the world faced one of its biggest challenges, the COVID pandemic.
As an avid traveler, not being able to explore the world drove me to focus on the beauty that surrounds us everyday. I decided to seek out some of our most beautiful and inspiring settings in order to create sense of peace. For myself and many others, the color blue creates an unspoken feeling of zen.
The process to obtain the blue hues was inspired by my experimentation with the cyanotype process over the summer of 2020, but with a twist. I didn’t use the sun to process this series but instead used digital manipulation; combining my signature style of photo/encaustic with an overlay of local nautical maps.
